What is happening

At 3:36 a.m. on 24 August 2016, a violent earthquake destroyed entire towns in central Italy. A ceremony is being held at the war memorial, followed by a solemn Mass attended by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and regional and local authorities. President Sergio Mattarella said that reconstruction must be completed and “cannot wait.”
