What is happening
The by-election was held in Reggio Calabria and 70 other municipalities to replace Francesco Cannizzaro’s vacant seat in the Chamber of Deputies. After 263 of 487 sections were counted, Roscioli was at 53.62%; la Repubblica reported that the candidate backed by Vannacci received 10%. Giorgia Meloni said the result rewarded a united coalition, while Forza Italia described Roscioli’s result as clear and rejected the idea of a “Vannacci effect.”
