What is happening
Researchers carried out a marine survey to reconstruct the seafloor. They stated that during the Ice Age, the Mediterranean was about 130 metres shallower than it is today, allowing Malta and Sicily to be connected.

The findings provide information about how the Mediterranean landscape changed during the Ice Age and about the former physical connection between Malta and Sicily.
