What is happening
In an interview with Milano Finanza, Schlein said Italy had become more fragile, with growth at zero despite the PNRR. She cited claims about rising poverty, falling wages, higher food and fuel costs, increased tax pressure and declining industrial production. She also said the Progressive Alliance should broaden and avoid divisions in elections. Schlein announced work from September on a shared program and opposed an electoral law that, in her view, would anticipate the premiership system and provide an excessive majority bonus.
Why is it on the Radar?
Schlein’s remarks combine criticism of the government’s economic record with proposals for the opposition’s electoral strategy and objections to a proposed electoral law.
