What is happening

The draft is due to be presented to the Council of Ministers. According to Valditara, this year the limit would apply to students enrolling during the school year. Children who attended at least two years of preschool and those born in Italy would be excluded; the latter represent 0.44% of all pupils.

Why is it on the Radar?

The proposal could affect how schools manage enrolments involving immigrant students, while the government is also considering restrictions on burqa use in schools.
