Speaking at the closing ceremony of Pordenonelegge in Pordenone, Mattarella described “one-track thinking” as a tool of oppression and said that dialogue between cultures and the exchange of ideas had helped advance Italy after dictatorship and war. He also warned against unanimity, defended pluralism, cited international human-rights figures and expressed support for Electrolux workers involved in a labor dispute.
