Italian parliamentary committees schedule hearings on the Mattei Plan, island-related disadvantages and packaging

On Wednesday 9 September, the Chamber of Deputies will hold three hearings, including examinations of the Mattei Plan’s implementation report, measures on packaging reuse and deposit-refund systems, and disadvantages linked to insularity.

What is happening

The Foreign Affairs Committee will hear Aldo Pigoli, ANCE and the AVSI Foundation from 1:00 p.m. as part of its examination of the Mattei Plan implementation report updated to 30 June 2026. At 2:30 p.m., the Environment Committee will hear Asvis, Confesercenti, Giacimenti urbani APS, Legambiente and WWF Italia on proposed legislation concerning packaging reuse and deposit-refund systems. At the same time, the parliamentary committee on disadvantages arising from insularity will hear, by videoconference, the mayors of San Filippo del Mela, Pace del Mela and Milazzo. The hearings will be broadcast on the Chamber’s web TV.
