What is happening
The delegation was received by Eugenio Zoffili, president of the Italy-Japan bilateral friendship section of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and MP Graziano Pizzimenti, in the presence of Ambassador Hikariko Ono. Discussions covered the international context, security, immigration, tourism, disaster-risk prevention, civic participation and combating drug trafficking. Zoffili described the meeting as an opportunity to strengthen the strategic partnership and said that cooperation among parliaments, governments and diplomatic missions could address common challenges. He also cited recent agreements on culture, youth and workers, defence, protection of Japanese workers in Italy, and Italy’s participation in the opening of the Italy Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025. The delegation visited the Chamber and an exhibition on the Constituent Assembly.
